Electrical Trades - Drumright

This course provides information on theories, principles and practices needed to solve the everyday problems encountered by the electrician in the aspects of installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment. The student learns through application of classroom theory and actual shop experience. The course content will involve residential, commercial, and industrial phases of the occupation. Students successfully completing the program requirements earn certification with the Home Builders Institute.

Career Majors in Electrical Trades


Career Major: Residential Electrician’s Assistant

This course prepares students to begin an electrical apprenticeship in the residential wiring trade or for employment in an electrical supply store. This occupation requires a license, which must be obtained by passing a written and performance test as well as satisfying a residency requirement which usually means working for a licensed contractor for three years or more as an apprentice before being eligible to take the licensing test. Credit may be awarded for time spent in the career major, at the option of the test administrator.

Career Major: Commercial Electrician’s Assistant

This course prepares students to begin an electrical apprenticeship in the commercial wiring trade, employment in an electrical supply store or with an electrical utility. This occupation requires a license, which must be obtained by passing a written and performance test as well as satisfying a residency requirement which usually means working for a licensed contractor for three years or more as an apprentice before being eligible to take the licensing test. Credit may be awarded for time spent in the career major, at the option of the test administrator.

Career Major: Industrial Electrician’s Assistant

This course prepares students to begin an electrical apprenticeship in the industrial wiring trades, as a motor controls and programmable logic controller technician, or for employment in an electrical supply store or with an electrical utility. This occupation requires a license, which must be obtained by passing a written and performance test as well as satisfying a residency requirement which usually means working for a licensed contractor for three years or more as an apprentice before being eligible to take the licensing test. Credit may be awarded for time spent in the career major, at the option of the test administrator.

Earn college credit while attending Central Tech through our cooperative alliance agreement with the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. College credit is awarded by appropriate higher education institutions through Articulation and/or Cooperative Alliance Agreements.
