Oklahoma School of Science & Math - Drumright

The OSSM Drumright Regional Center was developed with the cooperation of Central Technology Center and the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics. The program is designed to provide advanced mathematics and science courses to students within the Central Tech area at no charge. This provides college level curriculum without the expense of tuition and transportation. The students in the regional center are provided with high level instruction and individual attention. Upon completion of the program, many of them go on to seek degrees in engineering, medical (doctor, dental, vet), education and pre-law. The typical class is ten. Juniors and seniors are eligible to apply.

Pre-Requisites

Students must complete Algebra II prior to attending the OSSM regional center. It is also strongly recommended, but not required, that the student complete a trigonometry course as well.

The Curriculum

The OSSM regional center offers college level calculus and physics courses including a lab component. All students have the opportunity to take the AP Calculus BC and/or the AP Physics C Mechanics tests in May. Most universities award 11 hours of college credit for successfully passing the AP tests.

Daily Schedule

The OSSM regional center follows the academic calendar of Central Tech. Students may attend either the morning or afternoon session.

To Apply

Students interested in applying for admission to the OSSM Drumright Regional Center should obtain an application from their high school counselor, Central Tech or download form.

2009 Students Speak Out

“If you choose to come to Central Tech, you can ease into college. You’ll find yourself more prepared and less likely to drop out. You already have the college environment at Central Tech. We are taking sophomore level college classes as juniors and seniors in high school.” - Cody Sewell, Cleveland, Senior in OSSM

“The AP tests I took and passed last year are worth 3 college classes and approximately $10,000 at the private university where I plan to attend after high school.” - Zachary Eldredge, Bristow, Junior in OSSM
